I pledge Allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America... except in Haiti, of course.

In Haiti, most of the countries fly their home flag over their relief installations. All of the countries, in fact. Except… except one. The United States of America.
“The Obama administration says flying the flag could give Haiti the wrong idea,” claims USA Today. After all, we don’t want the Haitians to think we came as conquerors, do we?

Bull.

If the Haitians think that, then they’re not as smart and educated as we think they are. They went through a horrible disaster, and the USA has been the number 1 contributor to the Haitian relief. They know exactly why we’re there, and they know that we will leave. It isn’t the first time we’ve helped them out, and by the stars above, it won’t be the last.

I apologize for my lack of patience. One of the many things that I have noted during this administration is a remarkable disrespect for our flag, our country, and the men who have died for it. This is simply one more mark against them… and, of course, an outrage. I may not be a professional political analyst, and I may not be perfect, but time and again Obama’s anti-patriotism has been seen – not wearing the American flag on his lapel pin, removing it from the tail of his campaign plane, taking away the symbol of American assistance in Haiti… and it doesn’t stop there. From apologizing about the greatest country on earth to statements about wanting to change the fundamentals of the Constitution, this man has been remarkably open about his hatred for everything this country stands for.

So many people are simply willing to just let it be what it is, and say, “oh, well, he’s just trying to be courteous and fair to other countries,” or something. However, it is a fact that we do live in the freest, most prosperous country on planet earth at the moment. Why do we need to put ourselves down to make Europe feel better about itself? Oh, wait, I know the answer. We don’t.

I will no longer stay silent about these things. I can’t. I refuse. Too many brave men and women have died for the colors behind that flag, and everything that that flag represents. I will not sit still while our dearest president slanders and mocks the symbol of freedom in America, and denies us the freedom to fly our own flag over our own relief institution.

The real question is… will you?
